Mini Mural Contest

When completed, Destination Crenshaw will be the largest public exhibition of Black excellence and culture in the United States, and that starts with you.

Destination Crenshaw invites local artists to enter our first construction fence Mini Mural Contest!

While it is well known that murals, statues, and other works of Black art will be integrated into pocket parks along the 1.3-mile stretch of the boulevard that will be home to Destination Crenshaw, now that construction is getting started, we are also creating opportunities for artists to showcase their brilliance as the project is being built.

Chosen works will be displayed horizontally on 8’ x 12’ construction fencing around work sites, with new opportunities becoming available as construction progresses. Ideally, artworks will contain messages and/or images that uplift and inspire the Crenshaw community.

Black art is essential to the culture of Los Angeles, and Destination Crenshaw is committed to seeking every opportunity to uplift and reward the work of our talented local artists. In addition to having their works displayed on Crenshaw Boulevard, contest winners will also receive a stipend.

Financial support for our mural project comes from Bank of America Charitable Foundation, which has made a contribution to support Destination Crenshaw.

“Destination Crenshaw is a new model for urban revitalization that creates jobs, supports Black-owned businesses and restores the environment, all while integrating the largest outdoor exhibition of Black art in the nation,” said Raul Anaya, Bank of America market president for Greater Los Angeles. “As a company that has had business financial centers on the boulevard and in the community for decades, we are excited to be part of this effort as Destination Crenshaw comes to life.”

“We very much appreciate this contribution from a financial institution that is both a physical landmark on the boulevard as well as a supportive and engaged neighbor,” said Jason Foster, President and COO of Destination Crenshaw.
