For Shomari Davis, building isn’t just about concrete and steel — it’s about people. His journey began in the electrical trades, where he learned that the work of his hands could power change far beyond a single job site. Over time, that work evolved into advocacy — making sure those same opportunities were open to the next generation.
As a Business Representative for IBEW Local 11, Shomari now stands at the intersection of labor, community, and progress. He fights for fair wages, local hiring, and pathways into skilled trades for residents who’ve too often been left out of the city’s biggest projects.
When he joined the Destination Crenshaw Board, it was with that same purpose — to make sure the project doesn’t just celebrate Black culture, but invests in it. He brings a builder’s mindset to every conversation, ensuring that art, design, and infrastructure all connect back to real opportunity for South LA.
For Shomari, the corridor isn’t just being rebuilt — it’s being reclaimed. And his goal is simple: to make sure the people who helped build Los Angeles also get to build its future.
